Other Schools

While the Sustainable Move-Out has been organized completely by Dartmouth students and staff, the basic concept has been successfully applied at other schools across the country.

  • Yale’s Spring Salvage program last year collected over 18 tons of items that would have otherwise entered into the waste stream. These items were valued at an estimated $29,000 and were donated to local charities.
  • Bowdoin’s Dump and Run began in 2002 and works closely with local charity groups. They resold their items to the local community and students, making over $30,000 for the local charities.
  • Cornell’s program was started in 2003 and over two years has raised $18,000 and rerouted 20 tons of items.
