John Hope Franklin

John Hope Franklin, an American historian, has taught at the University of Chicago from 1964 to 1982, when he went to Duke University. He earned his doctorate from Harvard in 1941 and has written extensively on blacks in the United States. His books include From Slavery to Freedom, The Militant South, 1800-1861, Racial Equality in America, and Race and History.
