Edmundo Desnoes is a Cuban novelist and educator, Desnoes has traveled widely and lived in the United States. In Cuba he worked for the official newspaper, Revolución. He was editor of art and literature of the Editorial Nacional de Cuba and the Instituto del Libro. In addition, he was a member of the editorial board of the magazine Casa de Las Américas. Other positions include consultant and advisor of the Comisión de Orientación Revolucionaria (COR), Professor of Cultural History at the Escuela de Diseño Industrial, and advisor to the Empresa de películas y díapositivas didácticas of the Ministry of Culture. Desnoes has published essays, short stories, art reviews, poetry and several novels. His novel Memorias del Subdesarrollo was translated into several languages and made into a film.
