Dear Faculty Advisors and Delegates:
It is with great pleasure that I welcome you to the seventh installment of the Dartmouth Model United Nations Conference (DartMUN) which will be hosted March 30 through April 1, 2012 at Dartmouth College in Hanover, N.H.
Every spring, DartMUN provides over 400 high-school students with an invaluable Model U.N. experience. Unlike a traditional classroom environment, DartMUN offers an educational global politics simulation that challenges students to understand and engage with the most pressing problems of the 21st century.
At DartMUN, we are committed to providing delegates with a unique experience in and out of committee. In much the same manner as the College that we have grown to know and love, DartMUN values an innovative and intimate learning environment. These values can be seen in DartMUN’s focus on active, small committees that ensures all delegates learn about the complexities of our dynamic and interconnected world. Moreover, DartMUN emphasizes mutually beneficial collaboration between delegates and with our dedicated staff of Dartmouth students who are leaders across campus.
This year’s conference will continue the DartMUN tradition of taking the experience beyond Hanover with its commitment to global philanthropic initiatives throughout the conference weekend. In addition to staple committees such as DISEC and the Security Council, this year’s conference will offer several committees that will prove particularly exciting - highlights include an Israeli-Palestinian Summit, a Libyan Transitional Government, and the always thrilling joint crisis simulation.
Registration for DartMUN VII will open October 5th and all the necessary instructions to do so can be found under the registration tab of our website. I encourage you to explore our website to learn more about DartMUN, both past and present, as well as our very impressive staff. If you have any additional questions, please feel free to contact us. Our e-mail address is dartmun@dartmouth.edu.
On behalf of the entire DartMUN staff, I welcome you to DartMUN VII. I look forward to seeing you this spring and eagerly wait for the first gavel strike of opening ceremonies.
Sincerely,
Sean Donovan
Secretary-General
