An enormously gifted classical singer and actor, Paul Robeson was also an outspoken civil rights advocate—for which he was branded a communist, blacklisted, and all but erased from history. In his tautly paced play, Nigerian-born British actor and singer Tayo Aluko delivers “an admirable introduction to a great pioneering performer” (The Guardian).
