The rooster is already crowing, that harbinger bird, who is wide awake to call everyone to work. Fiery Titan peeks over the eastern waves, spreading his bright sunlight over the happy fields. The Daulian bird, perched on the oak tree, sings a high-pitched song while the gentle lark pours out a skillful melody. The wild rose now exhales her sweet perfumes, and violets scent the air while the corn flourishes in the field. Look! Zephyr's generous consort, Venus, spreads new turf on the fields and sprinkles the grass with dew as bright as glass. You slouch, you can hardly find such delights in your bed, where sleep weighs on your tired eyes. There dreams trouble your sleep and griefs disturb your mind. That's where the seeds of illness originate! How can a slouch be in good health?
