| At Dartmouth: Poulton is expected to be one of the offensive leaders on the blueline. Poulton managed eight points (3g, 5a) as a junior, showing his offensive capabilities in his first game of the season. He netted the Big Green's only hat trick of the season in a 5-1 win against Union (11/14). Poulton recorded all five of his assists in ECAC league play, including helpers in back-to-back games against Yale (2/26) and Princeton (2/27). He scored 15 points (1g, 14a) as a sophomore, finishing second on the team in scoring among defensemen. Poulton was named the ECAC/Bauer Player of the Week (12/29) after assisting on five of the 10 Dartmouth goals scored in the Sheraton/USAirways Classic. In an 8-1 victory against Union (2/20), he assisted on three Big Green goals -- the third time he has recorded a playmaker in his career. Poulton also had a three-game scoring streak (1/27- 2/6), picking up three assists. He scored his lone goal of the season in a 5-2 win at Cornell (2/14). Poulton finished his freshman year with 14 points (2g, 12a). He scored his first collegiate goal, which was also the gamewinner (5-2), at Merrimack (12/21). He recorded three assists in a 5-4 overtime loss against Rensselaer (11/9).
High School/Juniors: A member of the Wexford Raiders of the Metro Jr. A League, Poulton was voted captain of the East Division All-Star team in 1995-96. In the previous year, he won the Bauer Division Championship with Wexford. He finished the 1994-95 season with a combined 47 points (13g, 34a) in 52 games.
Personal: Poulton lists his hometown Toronto Maple Leafs as his favorite NHL team. In the off season, Poulton enjoys hitting the golf links and would like to acknowledge Wayne Gretzky for his remarkable career, especially the 1987 Canada Cup. |
