| At Dartmouth: Burkart was named the Big Green's captain for the 1999-2000 season. He is entering his fifth season with Dartmouth, receiving a medical redshirt after missing all but two games his freshman year with a broken leg. Last season, Burkart appeared in all 29 games and posted career marks offensively. The defensive-minded blueliner finished with seven assists and eight points. In the season opener against Niagara (11/8), Burkart tallied two helpers, his first collegiate multiple-point game. In the Ledyard National Bank Auld Lang Syne tournament, he posted his second two-assist effort against Air Force (12/27). His lone goal of the season came against Brown (1/3) in a 4-3 loss. As a junior, he appeared in 24 games and picked up 24 minutes in penalties. The stay-at-home defenseman had two assists, the first in a 4-0 win at Union (11/8) and the second in a 4-1 victory against St. Lawrence (1/17). Burkart played in 29 games his sophomore year, establishing himself as a physical player by logging 56 penalty minutes. Burkart scored his first collegiate goal in a 6-4 loss at Clarkson (2/1). He also chipped in with an assist at St. Lawrence (12/31).
High School/Juniors: Burkart played his junior hockey for the Wexford Raiders of the Metro Jr. A League and was a member of four straight Metro Toronto championship teams. In 1991, he was also a member of the Ontario's provincial title team. In 1994, Burkart was named a first team All-Star. He also picked up a varsity letter at Loyola Catholic Secondary School prior to joining Wexford.
Personal: In the off-season, Ryan enjoys playing golf, and he lists his favorite movie as Slapshot. His father, Michael, captained the University of New Hampshire hockey team in the early 1970s. |
