HAMILTON, N.Y. -- The Colgate men's hockey team scored three goals in a span of 2:34 in the third period to lead the Red Raiders to a 5-2 victory against Dartmouth College on Saturday night at Starr Rink on the campus of Colgate University.

The loss drops the Big Green to 4-8-4 overall (3-3-3 in the ECAC) while the 11th-ranked Red Raiders improve to 13-6-0 (6-3-0 in the ECAC).

With the game tied at 2-2, Andy McDonald scored an unassisted power play with 12:00 remaining in the game to put the home team up for good.

P.J. Yedon then increased the Raiders' lead to 4-2, just 1:27 later. Erkki Rajamaki and Brad D'Arco each assisted on the goal.

Colgate capped off the scoring outburst just 1:07 later when Kevin Johns potted his sixth goal of the season. McDonald and Sean Nolan each assisted on the goal.

The Big Green knotted the game at 2-2 with less than 10 minutes remaining as Ryan Sinclair roofed a rebound over a fallen Colgate goaltender Shep Harder (32 saves). The play started with Frank Nardella feeding Michael Byrne up for a quick one-timer that was stopped by Harder. Sinclair then picked up the loose puck and scored his third goal of the season.

Dartmouth closed the gap to 2-1 in the third period as senior Ryan Poulton scored his second goal of the season, sending a rebound past a fallen Harder. Poulton started the play by dumping the puck into the Colgate zone for Chris Baldwin, who in turn, moved the puck to Mike Maturo.

Jamie Herrington, who was stationed in front of the Red Raider goal, took the centering pass and fired a shot that Harder couldn't control.

Colgate opened the games scoring at the 7:22 mark of the first period when junior Mike O'Malley notched his first goal of the season. The Red Raider forward picked up a loose puck in front of Big Green goaltender Nick Boucher (37 saves) and sent a shot past the fallen goalie for a 1-0 lead.

Colgate extended its lead to 2-0 when Jeff Potter wristed a shot over the left shoulder of Boucher. Potter's goal came immediately following the Big Green's P.J. Martin fired a shot off the Red Raiders goal post. P.J. Yedon picked up the only assist on the goal.

Boucher kept the Green in the game in the second period, making 21 saves, including key stops on both Sam Sturgis and Yedon. Dartmouth was outshot, 22-5, in the period.
