| At Dartmouth: Risk -- named the Big Green's captain -- enjoyed his finest season at Dartmouth in 1997-98, recording career bests in goals (2), assists (12) and points (14). He was the third-leading scorer among defensemen. Risk had 12 points (2g, 10a) in ECAC contests and five points (1g, 4a) in Ivy League action. His first goal of the season came in an 8-1 victory against Union (2/20). Risk notched his second tally of the season in a 4-2 loss against Brown (3/6). He enjoyed a career best four-game point scoring streak (1/9- 1/17), collecting six assists. Risk followed that with a three-game scoring streak (1/27-2/6) recording three helpers. He chipped in six points in each of his first two seasons for the Big Green. Risk appeared in 27 of the team's 30 games as a freshman and in all 29 games his sophomore year. He registered six helpers his sophomore season. In his rookie campaign, Risk scored his first collegiate goal in an 8-3 loss to defending national champion Boston University (12/12). He also recorded five assists that season.
High School/Juniors: Risk was a two-time All-Independent School League performer at Lawrence Academy. He was also named "Hockey Night in Boston" top defenseman, an award he shared with current New York Islander Bryan Berard. In Risk's final year at Lawrence, he was named the mid-Atlantic Prep-Private defensive most valuable player.
Personal: Dave lists his parents as the most influential people in his hockey career. He enjoys fly fishing, golf and travelling. Dave lists the New Jersey Devils as his favorite NHL team and the Chicago Blackhawks' Chris Chelios as his favorite player. |
