At Dartmouth: Hafer has worked hard for his chance to crack the lineup at Dartmouth. After seeing action in just 12 games in his first two seasons with the Big Green, the big forward could be in position to have an impact as a senior. In his junior season, he appeared in 22 games, collecting three assists on Dartmouth's checking line. Hafer had points in a 4-3 loss against Clarkson (1/16), in an 8-1 victory against Union (2/20) and in a 5-3 loss at Princeton (2/28). In his second season, Hafer netted his first goal in a 4-2 loss at Princeton (1/11) and added an assist later in a 4-4 tie against the Tigers (2/21).

High School/Juniors: Hafer earned eight varsity letters at Haverford Township High School, competing in both hockey and tennis for four years. He was the number one tennis player for three years and was named the EHSHL 1994 Player of the Year. Hafer also attended the Hill School for a postgraduate year, playing both hockey and tennis. He played with the Philadelphia Jr. Flyers from 1992-94, helping his team to a third-place finish at the 1994 National Championships.

Personal: Zach lists the Philadelphia Flyers as his favorite NHL team and cheers for John LeClair. Zach enjoys any Italian food, and Shawshank Redemption is his favorite movie.
