| At Dartmouth: Giedt is one of the most gifted skaters on the Big Green squad and enters his senior season with high expectations after setting career-bests in assists (10) and points (12) as a junior. Giedt opened the 1997-98 campaign with a two-assist night at Army (10/31). He scored goals in a 4-3 win against Yale (1/11) and a 4-3 overtime loss to Rensselaer (2/21). Giedt netted four goals and added two assists in 29 games his sophomore season, scoring a goal in three straight games against Cornell (2/7), Colgate (2/8) and Rensselaer (2/14). As a freshman, Giedt appeared in 25 games, scoring a career-high five goals and two assists. His shorthanded goal in a 4-3 win against Yale (1/12) was the only man-down tally by the Big Green all season. His first career goal came in Dartmouth's 6-2 loss at Union (11/10). Giedt collected his second goal of the season the next night in a 5-1 loss at Rensselaer (11/11).
High School/Juniors: Giedt was named most valuable player of the 1994 North Dakota State Championship when he scored two goals and notched an assist while leading Fargo South to a 4-2 victory in the title game against Grand Forks Central. He was also a finalist for North Dakota's Mr. Hockey award and played for the North Iowa Huskies of the USJHL before heading to Dartmouth.
Personal: Matt lists Austin Powers as his favorite film and Guns-n-Roses as his favorite music group. Matt enjoys playing in Gutterson Fieldhouse at UVM because of the free orange slices between periods. |
