Personal: Carl is the son of Pierre and Claire Desjardins. He started playing hockey at seven years old, cheers for the NHL's New Jersey Devils and admires Boston Bruins all-star defenseman Ray Bourque. He played against Dartmouth teammates Gary Hunter and Frederic Deschamps in junior hockey. Carl lists Austin Powers as his favorite film and "La Vie Devant Soi" as his favorite book.
