At Dartmouth: Wong, who will compete for time in goal this season, completed
his freshman year with a 7-5-1 record in 14 games played, and
was twice named the ECAC Rookie of the Week. Wong was also presented
the Booma Award, given to the team's outstanding rookie. Wong
won his first collegiate start, a 20-save, 3-2 victory over Colgate.
He later turned aside 36 shots, his highest save total for the
season, in a 6-2 victory over UMass-Lowell (12/30).
High School: While with the Surrey Eagles and Richmond Sockeyes, Wong received
the Top Goaltender Award for the Pacific International Junior
Hockey League in 1993-94, the Most Sportsmanlike Player Award
in 1995-96 and the Hardest Worker Award in 1994-95. Wong was also
a member of the 1993-94 PIJHL Championship while with the Sockeyes.
Personal: Jason became a goalie after watching his idol Richard Brodeur,
formerly of the Vancouver Canucks, which is also Jason's favorite
team. He loves to play at Gutterson Field House at Vermont because,
"it has a great atmosphere, and I like to play in front of a lot
of people." Jason enjoys eating chicken cordon bleu from the Hop,
while his favorite movie is the classic Slapshot. During his free
time, he enjoys sleeping and playing his guitar, while he also
likes to watch Hockey Night in Canada. |
