At Dartmouth: The most explosive goal scorer on the Big Green roster, Sturgis
enters his final season coming off his most productive season.
Sturgis finished second in Big Green scoring with 30 points and
scored a career and team high 21 goals. Sturgis finished last
season with a four game point scoring streak (2/21-3/1), netting
six goals and adding an assist over that span. Sturgis scored
points in seven of the team's last eight games and had goals in
six of the final seven games, including his first collegiate hat
trick at Brown (3/1). Sturgis finished the season with five multiple
point games and three multiple goal games. His efforts were rewarded
with his selection to the All-Ivy second team by the conference
coaches. In his sophomore year, his game-tying goal at Yale, with
just two seconds remaining, kept the Big Green in the playoff
hunt. He finished the year fourth on the team in scoring, putting
up seven goals and nine assists for 16 points. As a freshman,
he was one of five skaters to appear in all 27 games for the team.
He scored three goals and notched four assists, and his first
career goal came in a 5-4 win over Boston College.
High School: Sturgis earned four letters in hockey and five in cross country
at the Blake School. An All-Conference runner four times, he was
selected All-Conference in hockey twice and given honorable mention
a third time.
Personal: Jon puts golf, waterskiing and reading among his hobbies and
says his favorite movie is Caddyshack. He lists the TV show Cheers
as one of his favorites, and "it's a little known fact" that Jon
is a trivia buff. Jon's most memorable sports moment was the goal
at Yale and the thing he likes most about hockey is the camaraderie
of his teammates. |
