At Dartmouth: One of the Big Green's top penalty killers and strongest skaters,
Giedt has made his mark in the Ivy League as one of the most tenacious
players. Last season, Giedt netted four goals and added two assists
while keeping opposing power play units at bay. Giedt had a three
game goal scoring streak (2/7-2/14), netting a goal in each contest.
In his freshman season, Giedt appeared in 25 games, scoring five
goals and two assists. His shorthanded goal against Yale was the
only man-down tally by the Big Green all season. His first career
goal was recorded in unusual fashion at Union when his third-period
shot from the blue line deflected in front of the net and bounced
off the back of the goalie before crossing the goal line.
High School: Giedt was MVP of the 1994 North Dakota State Championship when
he scored two goals and notched an assist in leading his team
to a 4-2 victory in the title game. He also lettered three years
in football and track and as the quarterback led his high school
to a perfect 12-0 record and the state title as a senior.
Personal: Morgan Freeman is Matt's favorite actor and his favorite movie
is The Shawshank Redemption, which Freeman co-starred in. In his
spare time, Matt enjoys golfing and reading and his favorite book
is Pat Conroy's "Lords of Discipline." |
