At Dartmouth: Burkart set his mark last season in the Ivy League after having to redshirt his freshman year due to a broken leg. Burkart was the Big Green's penalty leader with 56 minutes. Burkart's solid style of play on the blueline is a welcome one. He scored his first collegiate goal at Clarkson (2/1) during his sophomore year. He was lost his freshman year during the second game of the season at Vermont (11/29). Burkart is a solid defensive player and has worked hard since the injury to come back and made a solid contribution to the Big Green his sophomore season.

High School: Burkart played his junior hockey for the Wexford Raiders and was a member of four straight Metro Toronto Championship teams. In 1991 his team also won the Ontario Provincial Championship.

Personal: Ryan looks forward to the physical play that can be counted on in each hockey contest. In the off-season, Ryan enjoys teeing it up on the golf course, and he lists his favorite movie as the hockey comedy, Slapshot. His father, Michael, played hockey at the University of New Hampshire in the early 1970s.
