At Dartmouth: Almon, who will compete for time in goal this season comes off
a solid freshman year. In 13 appearances, he recorded a team high
325 saves. Despite a 1-9-1 record, he finished the season with
the lowest goals against average on the team, allowing 3.91 goals
a game. Almon recorded his first collegiate victory in his Dartmouth
debut, making 42 saves in the Big Green's 5-2 win at Merrimack
(12/21). It was his first start and earned him ECAC Rookie of
the Week honors. Almon has been called on to make more than 30
saves in a game four times and twice he has made more than 40.
High School: Almon backstopped Belmont Hill to tournament victories at Lawrenceville
in 1995 and at Nichols in 1994. Almon recorded a 15-5-4 record
with a 1.83 goals against average his senior year. He was named
the Boston Prep's Outstanding Goalie in 1996 and earned All-Independent
School League honors in that same year.
Personal: Eric says his favorite rink is Thompson Arena because "it is
fun to play here when the stands are full and its better than
any rink in the ECAC -- even Vermont." He looks up to his Uncle
Allen as a role model because "he enjoyed life and he knew how
to have fun." Eric enjoys following the Boston Bruins, while he
also likes to eat stuffed quohogs. His favorite show is the Simpsons
and his hobbies include fishing and painting. Eric's brother,
Scott, was a member of the Princeton hockey team and graduated
in 1995. |
