David Whitworth

David Whitworth (Assistant Captain)

At Dartmouth: With soft hands, strong stick handling and an accurate shot, David is an offensive threat just about any time he is on the ice. He turned up his offensive output as a sophomore and finished as the team's top scorer and most valuable player. David was the team leader with 12 goals and 18 assists and his play against Ivy League opponents earned him first team All-Ivy recognition. He recorded his first multi-goal game with two scores against Princeton in Thompson Arena and then, at Princeton later in the season, he took the puck the length of the ice on the power play, untouched, and scored on a highlight-variety backhander. As a freshman, he tallied a point in each of the last 18 games and finished the year with 20 points. His strong performance earned him the team's Booma Award as the top rookie performer. His first career goal was the game- winner in a 3-2 win at Colgate and he recorded five points on a goal and four assists against RPI later in the season.

High School: In addition to playing his junior hockey with the Penticton Panthers, David earned a total of 15 letters playing golf, volleyball, basketball and running cross country.

Personal: David enjoys playing just about any sport and especially likes golf, waterskiing, fishing and weightlifting. He says Wayne Gretzky is his role model because "he is a classy individual on the ice as well as off the ice." He lists Robert DeNiro as his favorite actor and he likes to eat chocolate and Italian food. David's favorite aspect of hockey is "lighting the lamp ¯ top shelf."
