Darren Wercinski

Darren Wercinski

At Dartmouth: One of the top returning goal scorers from last season, Darren has continued to improve his game and become a complete player. He possesses a powerful shot and good overall hockey instincts that were evident by his seven goals and six assists. Five of his goals came on the power play and tied him for the team lead with David Whitworth. In the second game of the season, Darren scored two goals against Illinois-Chicago while playing on his 21st birthday. As a sophomore, he appeared in 23 games and notched three goals and five assists, seeing time on the ice in special teams situations. His freshman season in 1993-94 saw him make the transition from defense to forward, and at the conclusion of the year, he brought home the John Manser Award as the team's most improved player.

High School: Darren was captain of hockey, football and tennis at Eveleth/Gilbert High School. Senior year, he led the hockey team to the Minnesota state championship.

Personal: Hailing from the home of the U.S. Hockey Hall of Fame and the world's largest hockey stick at 107 feet, Darren comes from a background steeped in hockey tradition. An extremely personable individual, he enjoys relaxing by watching a college football game or by involving himself in a tennis match or one-on-one basketball showdown. A government major at Dartmouth, Darren has a real ambition to open his own micro-brewery someday.
