Owen Hughes

Owen Hughes

At Dartmouth: Dartmouth's top offensive defender and a second team All-Ivy selection, Owen continued to make strong contributions at both ends of the ice last season. His four goals and 14 assists gave him 18 points -- good for third on the team. Owen's first goal of the season was the game-winner against Boston College in the Sheraton/USAir Classic, where he was named to the all-tournament team. His second goal of the year came two games later, with just 45 seconds remaining at Harvard, and gave the Big Green a 2-1 win. As a sophomore Owen netted six goals and dished out 13 assists. In his rookie campaign, Owen earned the team's Booma Award as the rookie of the year as he put up three goals and 16 assists as a forward. He has appeared in 82 of a possible 84 games during his three-year career.

High School: Owen lettered six times in hockey at Milton Academy and also served as team captain skating for his father, who was the coach. He also won letters in lacrosse and golf. Owen was an All-America selection in lacrosse and both a league and New England all-star in hockey.

Personal: When Owen was in seventh grade playing for Milton, he faced a senior named Jeremy Roenick from rival school Thayer Academy. Owen had this to say about one play that Roenick, now with the NHL's Chicago Blackhawks, made: "The puck was at center ice, five feet away from me and 20 feet from him. Within two seconds I saw him tip the puck through my legs and skate after it on a breakaway."
