Matt Giedt

Matt Giedt

At Dartmouth: One of the more tenacious players on the squad and possibly the quickest skater returning, Matt earned valuable time as a freshman. He appeared in 25 games, scoring five goals and two assists. His shorthanded goal against Yale was the only man-down tally by the Big Green last season. His first career goal was recorded in unusual fashion at Union when his third-period blast from the blue line deflected in front of the net and bounced off the back of the goalie before crossing the goal line. Matt returns for his second season as one of Dartmouth's top penalty killers and has the opportunity to increase his offensive output after a year of college experience under his belt.

High School: Matt was the MVP of the 1994 North Dakota State Championship when he scored two goals and notched an assist in leading his team to the 4-2 championship victory. He also lettered three years in football and track and as the quarterback led his high school to a perfect 12-0 record and the state title as a senior.

Personal: Morgan Freeman is Matt's favorite actor and his favorite movie is The Shawshank Redemption, which Freeman co-starred in. In his spare time, Matt enjoys golfing and reading and his favorite book is Pat Conroy's "Lords of Discipline."
