Scott Baker

Scott Baker

At Dartmouth: Scott enters his final season as the top returning goaltender after originally making the team as a walk-on. As a junior last season, Scott backstopped the Big Green to a second-place finish at the Sheraton/USAir Classic at Vermont. In the two games, he stopped 53 of 57 shots and was named the tournament's MVP. He also reached a personal milestone in the team's 3-1 win over RPI on February 16. In just his 40th game, Scott recorded his 1,000th career save, becoming just the 14th Dartmouth goalie to do so. He tied his career-high with 39 saves at Vermont early in the year, and 11 times turned away 30 or more shots. Against Ivy League foes, Scott posted a .906 save percentage and 2.73 GAA, tops among Ivy netminders, and he earned second team All-Ivy. As a sophomore, Scott made a strong showing between the pipes on the team's trip to Switzerland, and upon Dartmouth's return to the States, earned his first victory, a 4-2 win over Providence, in his first-ever start. For his performance in 1994-95, Baker received the John Manser Award as the team's most improved player.

High School: Scott captained the hockey team at St. George's School and also won letters in lacrosse and football. A superb student, Scott graduated prep school ranked No. 1 in his class academically.

Personal: Scott lists the Colorado Avalanche's Patrick Roy as his boyhood idol because of his talent and leadership ability, and Scott says about himself, "I'm not as psychotic as most goalies are." His favorite road trip is the Harvard/Brown trip because it is close to home and family and "it's always fun beating Harvard on the road."
