Ben Heller

Goaltender

At Dartmouth: An experienced goaltender with a quick glove hand, Ben will vie for time between the pipes this season. Last season, Ben got off to a hot start, helping the Big Green to a 3-0-1 record. He was named ECAC Player of the Week in November when he stopped a career-high 41 shots in Dartmouth's 3-2 win at Colgate. When Scott Baker went down with an injury in January, Ben filled in admirably. As a freshman, Ben played in eight games, posting a victory in his first college start when he recorded 26 saves in an 11-4 rout of Vermont at Thompson Arena. Along with Brian Fleming, Ben has the souvenir hat from Switzerland.

High School: Ben lettered four years in hockey and three in lacrosse at St. Sebastian's in Needham, Mass. His senior year, he was named league MVP in hockey after leading the team to a 25-3-2 record.

Personal: In his spare time, Ben enjoys movies, reading, listening to music and watching television. His favorite food is prime rib, and his favorite sports teams are the Boston Bruins and New England Patriots. Although he roots for the Bruins, Ben likes the playing style of New York Ranger forward Mark Messier. Ben says that Vermont and Cornell are the toughest places to play because of the rowdy fans.
