Dartmouth tied the University of Illinois-Chicago 3-3 tonight in a non-conference game at Chicago. The two teams play again at Chicago tomorrow nite. Bill Kelleher scored two goals for the Big Green, Brent Retter had the other tally. The teams were tied 2-2 after the first; UIC scored in the second to go up 3-2 but Kelleher scored his second goal of the game midway through the third to tie it. Both teams had a reasonably good shot to win it in OT, but each walked away with a tie.

Comments:

For the first time since they started playing at the Pavilion, the Flames tonight switched benches and locker rooms with the visiting team. This change was apparently done by coach Pedrie in order to shake things up.

Adam Lord was in goal tonight for the 4th straight game, however, he did not play as well as the score indicates. He was very lucky on several breakaways where Dartmouth lost the puck as they were about to shoot. Coach Larry Pedrie sat quite a few upper classmen and played most of his freshmen. Senior, Rob Hutson, did see action for the first time tonight, though only 7 shifts. One freshman who has been and continues to be impressive is Left wing, Chuck Mindel. Mindel scored his second goal of the season and assisted on another one. Thus far he has scored at least one point in all five of UIC games this season (2 goals, 4 assists). Dartmouth did not appear very impressive. Most of the game their play seemed flat. They play a much less physical style than we are used to seeing in the CCHA.

Right wing, Dave Kaspar, who redshirted last year and had yet to play this year, left the team this week. The only two UIC players who have not played yet this season are right wing, Ryan Walls (recovering from a separated shoulder, may play tomorrow) and goalie, Sean Carter. Both Walls, briefly, and Carter saw action against U of I-Champaign's club team in an exhibition game, though.

Tonight was the first "Skate with the Flames" following the game. About 100 people hung around after the game to skate and talk to the players on the ice. The next "Skate with the Flames" will be held on Saturday, November 25th after the matchup with Miami (Ohio). Tonight also was the first 50/50 raffle to be held at the UIC Pavilion. Under a new agreement raffles will be held at hockey and basketball games.

Tomorrow, before the second Dartmouth game, the annual tailgate party and fireworks will be held starting at 4:30 pm in the parking lot.
