| Brendan Whittet returns for his fourth season at Dartmouth College. His arrival at Dartmouth ended a seven-year affiliation with Brown. He was a four-year letterwinner for the Bears and spent three years as a coach.
Whittet works with the Big Green defense and runs the penalty kill unit, which finished the 1999-2000 season with an impressive 81.6 percent kill rate. He also handles all video duties for the team and recruiting.
Whittet is a 1994 graduate of Brown and was a standout defenseman for the Bears. He was a volunteer assistant under Gaudet following graduation and assisted in all phases of team operations. In 1996-97, Whittet was an assistant coach for the ECAC East tournament champion Colby College team. At Colby, he was responsible for coordinating all recruiting efforts, video breakdown and analysis, along with coaching the defensemen. The squad finished with an impressive 19-6-1 overall record.
In his playing career, Whittet appeared in 74 games for Brown and helped lead the Bears to the NCAA Tournament in 1993. As a senior, he scored the game-winning goal against Vermont in the ECAC playoffs, forcing a third game which Brown went on to win. He graduated with a B.A. in organizational behavior and management.
A native of East Providence, R.I., Whittet was a two-time All-State and All-League selection at Mount St. Charles. He collected 75 points in his high school hockey career and was named the Rhode Island Defensive Player of the Year in 1988-89. Whittet also played for Southern New England in the Junior Olympics in 1989, before heading to the Kent School for a post-graduate year.
Whittet was the head coach for the New England Select 16 Team that participated in th 2000 Junior Olympic Festival held in Saint Cloud, Minn. The team captured a bronze medal by finishing 3-0-1 in the round robin.
Whittet and his wife, Karen, reside in Montpelier, Vt.
