| At Dartmouth: Herrington joins Mike Maturo as the first players to serve as captains twice since Kevin McCann 87. As a junior, Herrington reestablished himself as an offensive force on the Big Green with 23 points (7g, 16a). He had a career-high 16 assists. Herrington closed the season with points in seven of the final nine games (2g, 6a), including a goal and assist in Game One of the ECAC quarterfinal against Rensselaer (3/9). He had five multiple-point games, including his first two-goal game at Clarkson (1/19). Herrington also had two-point games against New Hampshire (12/29), Union (1/26) and Harvard (2/9). He finished fifth on the team in scoring with 13 points (4g, 9a) as a sophomore. Herrington matched a career-best with a four-game point-scoring streak (2/20-3/3), recording four (2g, 2a). He also had a three-game point-scoring streak (1/8-1/24), picking up four (1g, 3a). Herrington netted the gamewinning goal in the Big Greens 4-3 victory against Western Michigan (11/27). Herrington finished his freshman year with 23 points (8g, 15a). He was first on the team in league scoring with 20 points (7g, 13a) and was named to the ECAC All-Rookie team. Herrington opened his collegiate career with a three-game point-scoring streak (11/8-11/14), picking up five points (3g, 2a). In his second three-game point-scoring streak (2/12-2/19), he recorded five points (1g, 4a). After a one-game absence from the scoresheet, Herrington put together a career-high four-game point-scoring streak (2/26-3/6), collecting five (2g, 3a) to close out the season. He finished the year with seven multiple-point games. Herrington was named ECAC Rookie of the Week (1/11) and also presented the Booma Award with Maturo as the teams top rookie performers.
High School/Juniors: Herrington collected 91 points (46g, 45a) in 58 games with the Cornwall Colts and amassed 74 goals and 161 points in his last two seasons. He finished second in league scoring, was a two-time CJHL All-Star and was named the 1998 CJHL All-Star games most valuable player. Herrington was named the CJHL most valuable player for the 1997-98 season.
