At Dartmouth: Gastrock appeared in three games for the Big Green and served as the team’s backup. He is expected to again compete for playing time in the Dartmouth goal. Gastrock finished the year with a 4.96 goals against average and a .800 save percentage. He made his collegiate start at Western Michigan (11/4) and turned aside 22 shots in a 5-4 loss. In a relief appearance against Yale (11/17), Gastrock stopped all seven shots he faced and earned the start against Princeton (11/18).

High School/Juniors: Gastrock was a member of the Waterloo Blackhawks of the United States Hockey League. He posted a 23-21-2 record and a 3.44 goals against average and had a .900 save percentage. In the playoffs, Gastrock allowed 2.97 goals against per game and had a .920 save percentage. He won the Royal Cup with the South Surrey Eagles of the BCHL in 1997-98. Gastrock won a Canadian National championship and was also player of the year. In 1999-2000, he was named player of the year by the Waterloo Fans.
