| High School/Juniors: Van Abel is as big as they come in college hockey, standing at 6-4. He was a teammate with Jason Costa on the NAHL's Danville Wings that won the championship last season. Van Abel had eight points (2g, 6a) last year in 34 games. The stay-at-home blueliner was a NAHL All-Star game participant that was held in Chicago, Ill. Van Abel is a dominant defensive player who has a huge amount of potential according to coaches.
Personal: Van Abel is the son of William and Lynn Van Abel. An outdoorsman away from the rink, he enjoys fishing, hunting, camping and canoeing.
