| At Dartmouth: Byrne made an immediate impact on the Dartmouth blueline, playing in all situations as a freshman. He was named to the ECAC All-Rookie team after recording 10 points (3g, 7a) in league games. Byrne was also selected honorable mention All-Ivy after scoring four points (2g, 2a). He appeared in all 30 games and finished second on the team in defensemen scoring with 12 points (3g, 9a). Byrne had a four-point night in a 5-5 tie against Princeton (11/12), including two goals. On three different occasions, he recorded assists in back-to-back games. Byrne scored the Big Green's only goal in a 1-1 tie with Vermont (11/20).
High School/Juniors: Byrne is a graduate of Deerfield Academy and was named co-New England Prep School Player of the Year. He collected 28 points (9g, 19a) with Deerfield and was All-New England. Byrne also participated in Hockey Night in Boston and was the Massachusetts Defensive Player of the Year along with most valuable player and All-Scholastic.
NHL Draft Pick: Byrne entered his freshman year at Dartmouth after being tabbed a fifth round selection (143rd overall) by the St. Louis Blues.
Personal: Byrne is the younger brother of Big Green forward, Michael. Friends is his favorite television show and is a fan of the World Wrestling Federation. He started playing hockey when he was three years old and names the Dallas Stars' captain Derien Hatcher as his favorite NHL player.
