| At Dartmouth: Byrne is coming off his second straight 11 point season. He missed the final five games of the last year due to a thumb injury, but still managed to post a career-best nine assists. Byrne had two assists against Western Michigan (11/26) and later put together a three-game point scoring streak (1/8-1/24). He was named to the Sheraton Classic all-tournament team after recording a point in each game against Boston College (12/29) and Ohio State (12/30). As a sophomore, Byrne scored six goals and added five assists. He tallied his first multiple-point game at Nebraska-Omaha (11/28), scoring two goals in 21 seconds. Byrne's second two-point game came in a 3-2 win against Cornell, when he netted the gamewinner and added an assist. Byrne enjoyed the most successful rookie campaign among the Class of 2001, tallying seven goals in 21 games. He was awarded the Booma Award, given to the team's outstanding freshman. Byrne notched his first collegiate goal in the Big Green's opener at Army (10/31). He registered his first two-goal game in an 8-1 victory against Union (2/20).
High School/Juniors: Byrne led the Deerfield Academy team with 37 points (17g, 20a). Prior to Deerfield, Byrne attended Hingham High School. He was a two-time most valuable player and leading scorer, a two-time first team all-league selection and a two-time Boston Globe all-scholastic athlete.
Personal: Byrne lists his father as the most influential person in his hockey career and cheers for the Philadelphia Flyers. Byrne lists the Dave Matthews Band as his favorite musical group.
