About me

I am originally from the northwest suburbs of Chicago, and I lived in Madison, Wisconsin for four years while doing my undergraduate work at the University of Wisconsin. I loved Madison, but was fortunate to find my next home in the small town of Laramie, WY, nestled in the Snowy Range. In my eight years there I took up quite a few outdoor activities, including backpacking, skiing and snowshoeing. I'm thrilled to be in Hanover where I can explore an entirely new and breathtaking region. I love being outside.

My other main interest is music. I'm passionate about live shows, and I get out to as many as I can. I'm a huge Dead Head, and their extensive library can keep me entertained for hours, if not days. I've played guitar since I was 10 years old (mostly, but not limited to, blues, folk, and bluegrass) and I love to play and improvise with new people. If you're ever in Hanover and want to jam, get in touch! There's a link to my SoundCloud page on the right if you want to have a listen.

Like many astronomers, I'm also a photographer. You can see some of my pictures here, or use the link on the right.

Finally, I also enjoy writing, mostly poetry that I'm attempting to turn into lyrics for the music I write, or just talking to myself in my journals. While I probably don't take my advice as often as I should, I encourage everyone to keep a regular journal!
