Session Presenters Irfan Ali, MD is a resident in Family Medicine at the Maine-Dartmouth Family Practice Residency. Deborah Alpern, LCSW, OSW-C is a social worker in palliative and supportive care at Mid Coast Hospital. Chaplain Raymond Anderson is Director of Pastoral Care at MaineGeneral. The Rev. Dr. Robert Bayley is presently Interim Pastor of the Londonderry Presbyterian Church in New Hampshire and has been a teacher of religion and medicine in family practice residencies in North Carolina and Alaska. Master drummer Jordan Messan Benissan, a native of Togo, West Africa, has taught and performed world-wide and is an associate faculty member in the Music department at Colby. Debbie Bowden RN, BSN is the Nurse Manager for inpatient and outpatient oncology services at MaineGeneral Medical Center and has recently taken on the additional role of Director of Oncology Clinical Practices. Scott B. Bullock is President/CEO of MaineGeneral Health. Frederic C. Craigie, PhD is a psychologist/faculty member at the Maine-Dartmouth Family Practice Residency and has served as Chair of the Nevola Symposium since its beginning in 1987. Andrew Hertler, MD, FACP has been a medical oncologist/hematologist at MaineGeneral Medical Center since 1996 and is currently the Medical Director of Oncology Services for MaineGeneral Health. Thomas Keating, MD, MS serves as Medical Director of Hospice and Palliative Care at MaineGeneral Health. He practiced medical oncology for 18 years before coming to MaineGeneral in 2006. Ted LaCrone is Project Manager, MaineGeneral Health Management and Resource Center. The Rev. Margaret Lawson is a presiding elder in the New England Annual Conference of the African Methodist Episcopal Zion Church, a Gospel musician and presenter of a universally acclaimed Gospel Choir workshop at the 1998 Nevola Symposium. Roger Phelps, PsyD is a clinical psychologist and trainer of medical and mental health practitioners and a past Coolidge Colloquium Fellow at Harvard Divinity School. The Rev. Mary Zachary-Lang is an artist, art therapist, licensed counselor, interfaith minister and chaplain who works with addicts and alcoholics at the Mercy Recovery Center in Portland. |
