Protein Expression Analysis The MB&P Core operates a Thermo Finnigan LTQ-XL ion trap mass spectrometer and an ABI Voyager DE Pro MALDI-TOF mass spectrometer. The LTQ-XL is the most useful instrument for proteomics work and is the basis of our protein identification service. The LTQ is equipped with an Eksigent nanoflow HPLC for performing LC/MS/MS for protein identification projects. The Sequest database search engine is available in the Core Facility. The Mascot search engine is site licensed and available campus-wide. The Voyager is available as a walk up instrument. The Core Facility holds regular training classes for those interested in using the MALDI-TOF mass spectrometer.
