MALDI Mass Spectrometry

MALDI-TOF mass spectrometry has become the method of choice for the obtaining molecular weights of large biologically-derived molecules. The ABI Voyager-DE Pro MALDI-TOF mass spectrometer is available on a per hour basis to trained individuals. The Voyager is a basic instrument intended to provide accurate molecular weights in a range up to 300kDa with very high sensitivity, below 50 femtomoles for the manufacturer’s calibration standard. Training and advice is provided by MB&P staff at no cost. Individual users are responsible for methods development and any calibration procedure needed for their research and must purchase their own sample plate.
