Preparing Samples for Protein Sequencing

This page is a little electroblotting centric. Electroblotting is the method of choice now because it is easier and for the most part less heart breaking than HPLC. If you have experience doing western blots and just need to know the essentials follow this link. If you need more detail try this tutorial. For a very comprehensive (811K This takes a while!) look at sample preparation you may want to down load Preparing Samples for Protein Sequencing a Newcomers Guide from PE/ABI.

The PE/ABI Newcommers guide touches on HPLC purification. I haven't as yet found a really good web page describing HPLC purification of proteins for sequencing. That's why the page is still under construction. We have just upgraded our HPLC capabilties greatly improving our ability to do protein purification and internal protein sequencing. If you intend to do some HPLC of proteins and/or internal sequencing please come and see us.
