Estas mujeres fueron conocidas en todo el mundo con el nombre de Madres de Plaza de Mayo. Hoy, a 25 años de su nacimiento, continúan su lucha por una sociedad mas justa y solidaria. Plot:	Ácratas (2000, 73 min.): Using photographs, films and documents, chronicles an anarchist movement located in the Rio de la Plata and Montevideo areas in the first third of the 20th century. Revolutionaries included Miguel Arcángel Roscigno, Buenaventura Durruti, and Severino Di Giovanni.   Por esos ojos (1998, 62 min.): María Ester Gatti spent years searching for her granddaughter, Mariana Zaffaroni, who as an infant had been kidnapped by an agent of the State Intelligence Service (SIDE), Miguel Angel Furci, in Buenos Aires, 1976; he murdered her parents and subsequently raised her as his own daughter.   Memorias de mujeras (2005, 30 min.): The Penal de Punta de Rieles in Montevideo held women political prisoners between 1973 and 1985. This documentary reconstructs life in the prison for women who resisted the dictatorship.

Plot:	Primer testimonio en el país sobre la situación de los presos políticos heredados de la última dictadura miltar. Relata el viaje que periódicamente emprenden una abuela y su nieto desde un pueblo de la provincia de Buenos Aires hasta la cárcel de mujeres de Eceiza. Recoge la visita a la hija y la madre de ambos, quien permaneció presa durante doce años.    Carmen Guarini: Buenos Aires, 1953. Cineasta, antropóloga, investigadora y docente. Crea y dirige desde 1991 el Programa de Antropología Visual en el Instituto de Ciencias Antropológicas de la Universidad de Buenos Aires. Ha escrito numerosos artículos sobre este tema y sobre el documental. En 1986 funda con Marcelo Céspedes Cine-Ojo, la productora más importante en Argentina especializada en cine documental y ha integrado el jurado en diversos certámenes. De su obra vale destacar, Hospital Borda, un llamado a la razón (1986) y Jaime de Nevares, último viaje (1995), laureados en Leipzig. Regresa a La Habana con el documental H.I.J.O.S el alma en dos (2002), también codirigido con Marcelo Céspedes.

Plot:	This documentary depicts the fight of the Grandmothers of the Plaza de Mayo to identify children kidnapped in the 1970s by Argentina-s armed guard. Con distancia cinematográfica y sin caer en un alegato militante, Blaustein maneja adecuadamente los hilos de estas entrevistas de familiares apropiados, víctimas y por sobretodo, de las Abuelas de Plaza de Mayo, sustentadoras el trabajo día a día desde hace años en pos de la recuperación de las verdaderas identidades de los bebés apropiados. Los recuerdos, conmovedores y reales, convierten a la película en un documental doloroso y explicativo del horror vivido en forma directa por cientos de chicos, pero también registra de manera jubilosa los casos de recuperación y de finales felices que hacen llevadera la trágica historia. Plot:	Esta pelicula fue rodadaen Tucumán durante tres años de convivencia con la familia Reales. En la pobreza y desde la pobreza se fue filmando a veces con cámara a cuerda y otras con cámara elétrica de 16 mm. En 1971 ante la posibilidad de secuestro de losz negativos por parte de los Servicios de Informaciones, estos fueron trasladados a Roma donde se completo el montaje y la sonorización final. En 1972 la pélicula fue prohibida por la dictadura de Lanusse. Finalmente en 1973 sus negativos fueron repatriados por decreto del entonces presidente Perón.

Notes:	Raymundo Gleyzer nació en Buenos Aires (Argentina) en 1941. Hijo de Jacobo (un ruso ucraniano) y Sara Aijen, ambos artistas y activistas que fundaron el teatro IFT ( Idisher Folks Teater -Teatro Popular Judío- ) donde Raymundo creció.    A los 20 años Raymundo decide dejar la Facultad de Ciencias Económicas y solicita la inscripción en la de Cine en La Plata. A partir de 1964 comienza el primero de los tres períodos del cine y documental políticos de Raymundo: será el de carácter etnológico. De esta época sale la trilogía "Ocurrido en Hualfin".    A partir de 1965 se abre un nuevo período marcado por su trabajo en noticieros (Canal 7 y Telenoche). En su búsqueda personal, este tipo de trabajos terminará con una película propia "México, la Revolución congelada". A nivel personal se incrementa su formación como marxista y su alejamiento definitivo del Partido Comunista..    En 1972 con una fuerte crisis dentro del PRT (Partido Revolucionario de los Trabajadores-Argentina) y con la desintegración del FATRAC (Frente Antiimperialista de los Trabajadores de la Cultura), Raymundo (militante del PRT) comienza el camino que lo llevara a su único largometraje de ficción "Los Traidores". La búsqueda de Raymundo apuntaba a un cine que entretuviera y concientizara al mismo tiempo. Lo que se podría considerar el tercer período.    Al mismo tiempo que filmaba 'Los traidores', Gleyzer filmó un corto sobre la masacre de Trelew: "Ni olvido ni perdón". La película se hizo básicamente con la conferencia de prensa que los fugados del penal habían dado en el aeropuerto (donde estaban varados) y con una serie de fotos. Al mismo tiempo nacía el FAS (Frente Antiimperialista por el Socialismo), que se relacionó directamente con el proyecto de Cine de Base.    En 1973 crea el grupo "Cine de la base" para llevar el cine a los mismos protagonistas de sus films, los desposeidos de la tierra, los obreros, los indios y los campesinos.    Fue una época en donde se organizaban proyecciones para el debate; se programaban "Los Traidores", "Informes y testimonios", y "Operación Masacre" de Cedrón basada en la novela de Rodolfo Walsh. Las proyecciones se daban cita en cualquier lugar y fuera de Buenos Aires también: La Plata, Córdoba, Rosario, Tucumán. Y el Cine de Base se iba expandiendo... La idea era crear una red que llegara a todo el interior del país, y que funcionara también como una distribuidora. A medida que las cosas van empeorando en el país, la militancia de Raymundo va creciendo. Estaba con ganas de formar una cadena de salas dentro de las villas, solo con lo necesario: proyector, un techo y bancos. Nunca llegó a concretarlo.    Hacia 1975 la Argentina era un hervidero y la situación era caótica y el funcionamiento de la Triple A (organización terrorista de extrema derecha -Alianza AntiComunista Argentina-) ya era pleno. Raymundo como otros militantes de organizaciones de izquierdas se convierte en un blanco móvil, su imagen, su nombre era el símbolo del Cine de Base. En 1976 realiza un viaje a New York por trabajo, la filmación se demora y Raymundo decide volver a Argentina. El 27 de mayo falta a una cita con un amigo... Raymundo había sido secuestrado. Su casa había sido allanada y la puerta rota a la fuerza; todo estaba roto y revuelto y de Raymundo no había rastros. Nunca más volvió a aparecer. Plot:	An existentialist before the term was invented, novelist Witold Gombrowicz (1904-1969) was well known in his native Poland before the Second World War, but achieved worldwide recognition in the 1950s due to the perceptiveness of editor and critic Maurice Nadeau. His novel Ferdydurke, which appeared in 1937, vaulted him to the front line of contemporary writers, while his plays solidified his reputation. Beginning in 1939, he spent twenty-four years in voluntary exile in Argentina. His writings were banned in turn by the Nazis, the Stalinists, and the Polish government, and though he returned to Europe in 1963, he settled in France rather than his native Poland. He died in Vence. His diaries, Dziennik (3 vol., 1953-66), which recount point by point the important moments of his life, form the framework of this film portrait. The film attempts to show the courage and insolence of a man who admits to having rooted his personality and works in his own weaknesses.

Plot:	After breaking San Francisco box office records for a touring musical with 92 weeks at Theatre On The Square through May, 1996, FOREVER TANGO spent the summer and fall of 1996 and the first part of 1997 on the road. Wild and frenzied ovations greeted performances at the Spoleto Arts Festival in Italy, and in London, Chicago, San Diego, Los Angeles, Toronto, Montreal, Boston, and Philadelphia.    This internationally acclaimed dance spectacle arrived at Broadway-s Walter Kerr Theatre on June 16, 1997 with a June 19 opening night. Due to its box-office success, the Broadway run was extended and moved to the Marquis Theatre. The production closed August 1, 1998 after over a year on Broadway - the longest-running tango show in Broadway history. FOREVER TANGO then toured major cities in North America (including a limited seven-week return run at San Francisco-s Theatre On The Square) and spent the summer and fall of 1999 touring Asia. The production ended the millenium with another return to San Francisco-s Theatre On The Square, December 7, 1999 through January 2, 2000. FOREVER TANGO then played an eight-show limited engagement at the Sacramento Community Center Theatre, April 4 through April 9, 2000 and has now begun a European tour.    The show features a world-renowned, all-Argentine cast which brings an absolutely unique excitement and passion to the stage. The production traces, through music, dance, and dramatic vignettes, the Tango-s colorful, often checkered history, from its beginnings in turn-of-the-century Buenos Aires bordellos to its acceptance into high society. Sensuous and sophisticated, the tango inhabits a world where everything can be said with the flick of a leg, the tug of a hand, the tap of a foot, and the arch of an eyebrow.    Created and directed by Luis Bravo, FOREVER TANGO features a cast of 26 performers including 14 brilliant, exceptionally adept dancers who tango in their own unique styles, offering variety and dramatic insights to the dance. Led by musical director/arranger Lisandro Adrover, the onstage 11-piece orchestra is anchored by the bandoneón, an accordion-like instrument imported to Argentina from Germany in 1886 to become a mainstay of tango music with a melancholy, longing sound unique to the tango. With only 200 bandoneón players in the world, FOREVER TANGO is fortunate to have four bandoneón players on stage. They are joined by the acclaimed Argentinean singer, Carlos Morel.    Pop cultural historians note that the tango helped catapult early screen actor Rudolph Valentino to stardom, and its influence can be seen in a variety of dance forms, including modern dance, jazz, hip-hop, and ballet. While it has a repertoire of definite steps, it also allows for a certain amount of improvisation, as well as tremendous latitude in personal interpretation. The tango will never be danced the same way twice.    Creator/director Luis Bravo collaborated with each of the dance couples in FOREVER TANGO. The tango is a feeling that you dance, says Bravo. A story you tell in three minutes. It-s passionate, it-s melancholic. It-s tender, it-s violent. Las imágenes se suceden hasta que Di Tella se enfrenta directamente con su herencia viajando a La India. Aquí viene el choque que limpia y cura las heridas trasmitidas. In the years after Peron's death in 1974, the group embarked on a series of high-profile attacks and kidnappings which ended when Argentina-s military government began a Dirty War against various "subversives," effectively wiping out the Montoneros in the process. Plot:	El día 20 de septiembre de 2002 se realizo una concentración y movilización pidiendo “Que se vayan todos”. Al término de la misma y mediante el accionar de infiltrados (denunciados por los manifestantes) se desató una brutal represión que a su termino tuvo como saldo varios heridos y mas de 120 trabajadores desocupados detenidos. La solidaridad nacional e internacional, junto a la masiva movilización de los trabajadores lograron, luego de 15 dias, que los trabajadores en prisión recuperaram su libertad lo que significo un gran triunfo el campo popular.    Documentary film about an organized protest of unemployed workers that occured on Sept. 20, 2002 in Jujuy, Argentina at which more than 120 protestors were arrested. Plot:	Sol De Noche is a beautifully shot and poetically told story of the horror of the military dictatorship in Argentina between 1976 and 1983. It is centered in the exemplary figure of Olga Aredez, a widow of the regime, who circles the main square in Ledesma all alone every Thursday as an expression of struggle and in remembrance of one of the most brutal and significant events of the military dictatorship, the “Night of the Blackout”. Olga offers a moving historical recount of the life of her and husband, Dr. Luis Aredez, leading up to the violence which started for them with a late-night knock on the door in 1976. The Mothers of Ledesma, with their white handkerchiefs, appear some years later. Ningún hombre es cualquier hombre.” Olga Arédez lo sabe desde el día en que desapareció su marido. La Historia en primera persona resulta más poderosa y elocuente que la Historia en general. Por eso, en Sol de noche se decide hablar de la represión genocida de los militares argentinos desde la trágica “Noche del apagón” de Ledesma (en la que se llevaron a 400 pobladores para torturarlos), y de la vida de Luis desde el recuerdo de Olga. Cómo ella lo acompañó y apoyó durante años, cómo se quedo sin él. Cómo marcha sola cada jueves, desde hace más de veinte años, por la plaza del pueblo Libertador General San Martín, con su pañuelo blanco (el que identifica a las Madres de desaparecidos) y su pancarta. Es su forma de lucha y de recuerdo. La imagen más potente y conmovedora del film.    El film está dividido en seis capítulos titulados “Olga y Luis”, “Olga y sus hijos”, “Luis”, “Golpe de Estado”, “Democracia” y “Olga sola”. En cada uno de ellos se hace hincapié en una parte de esta compleja trama en la que se mezclan la vocación de Luis Arédez por ayudar a los habitantes desprotegidos, la presión de la poderosa empresa dueña de la mitad de la ciudad para mantener su imperio feudal, y el plan de aniquilamiento de la dictadura.    Pocos relatos alcanzan para sintetizar y contraponer las diferentes posturas: Olga, por supuesto, que fue partícipe de cada acto y va reconstruyendo los hechos en los que se vieron involucrados ella y su marido. Dos de los hijos del matrimonio Arédez, cuyos recuerdos aportan una gran cuota de emoción. El ex gerente de Relaciones Públicas de la azucarera Ledesma, del que basta escuchar dos o tres frases pronunciadas con orgullo o desdén, tales como “hay que saber coimear“, “yo eché a más de 10 mil hombres” o “era un mediquito zurdo”, para comprender el pensamiento siniestro de la empresa a la que representa. Y el cura del pueblo, un español con pensamientos retrógrados para el que todos eran “comunistas”, que pondera a la cárcel porque “allí a Luis le enseñaban la Biblia y el amor a la sociedad”, y que afirma sin despeinarse que “los hijos de los que iban a llorar a la iglesia desaparecían por la mala educación que les habían dado los padres”.    A los testimonios y entrevistas se suman otros dos recursos propios del formato documental. Las fotos familiares, cuando media el relato y urge la necesidad de ponerle un rostro al doctor Arédez. Y las imágenes de archivo, que recuperan algunos momentos muy puntuales como el primer comunicado del dictador Jorge Rafael Videla, el 24 de marzo de 1976, o la asunción presidencial de Raúl Alfonsín, en 1983. Del pasado al presente, algunas escenas se reiteran, se completan y se van resignificando a lo largo de la película: las que ilustran los preparativos de la marcha que lidera Olga, cada aniversario del “Apagón”, y las vistas panorámicas del Ledesma, con sus incansables chimeneas de humo.    La de Olga y Luis es una historia dura, pero Sol de noche está construida y narrada de tal manera que su efecto es lento, acumulativo y, por cierto, contundente al fin. La película es franca, comprometida con lo que cuenta, no escamotea la verdad pero tampoco golpea sino de manera sutil, fuerte pero nunca inesperada, efectista o con golpes bajos. Para lograrlo, Sol de noche va de lo general a lo particular: comienza adentrándose en el trabajo de los zafreros de Jujuy, describiendo, por ejemplo, el olor insoportable de la caña de azúcar de la ciudad; para terminar relatando la desaparición de Luis y la lucha, muchas veces solitaria, de Olga.    Hay varios logros más en este segundo largometraje documental de Pablo Milstein y Norberto Ludin (Malajunta, 1996). La música original de Pablo Green y Julio Kladniew, que ilustra con sus melodías momentos de miedo, tensión o simplemente un hecho en particular o un lugar. Y la voz en off, cuyos textos son claros, sencillos: el escritor Marcelo Birmajer supo darles forma para que no dijeran ni una palabra de más ni de menos, y para cargarlos de sentido y emoción.    Decisiones estéticas aparte, el mayor acierto de los directores es haberse acercado a esta historia –que no deja de tener vigencia con tantas heridas aún abiertas–. Habernos acercado a Olga, a su vida y a su presente, tan particular, tan ligado a su pasado y a Luis. (By Yvonne Yolis)

Plot:	El director marplatense Alberto Marquardt llega a su primer largometraje en este documental, que narra la historia de la conocida religiosa francesa desaparecida durante la Dictadura Militar, trágicos años en los cuales le asesinaron a su propia hermana (miltante del PRT), lo tuvieron preso y lo obligaron a exiliarse en Francia, su lugar de residencia desde entonces. Así, este argentino que estudia cine en Lecole Lumière de Paris y trabaja filmando para la televisión en Europa, une sus dos países en el raconto de la desaparecida Alice Domon, religiosa perteneciente a la congregacion Hermanas de las Misiones Extranjeras, que vivió en Argentina desde 1967 y fue secuestrada y desaparecida con activa participación del represor Alfredo Astiz. La visión de la propia Alice sobre esos años de plomo y su compromiso social junto a los pobres es contada a través de la lectura de la correspondencia que ella mantuvo con su familia. Esas páginas revelan la confrontación con una sociedad en crisis y el avance de su compromiso con la realidad que le tocó vivir.
