decide when you understand the assigned problems and have control of them. You will be
successful on the subsequent examinations only if you have learned to solve the problems
independently and in other situations.

Case Studies in Calculus or Maple: Assistance on the CSC material or on textbook
problems involving Maple can be obtained by going to the MATC (Math Across the
Curriculum) Lab, Room 5 Bradley Hall, during the same times as above:
Sunday 7:00 p.m.-9:00 p.m.
Tuesday 7:00 p.m.-9:00 p.m.
Thursday 7:00 p.m.-9:00 p.m.
It may be helpful to take along a disk containing the work about which you have a question
or on which you got stuck.

Meetings with your instructor:

For additional assistance, for discussion of specific problems that you are encountering, or
for any other matter that can help you learn calculus better, you should not hesitate to
contact your instructor. You can send e-mail messages to us, make appointments, or drop
into our scheduled office hours.

Academic Honor Principle:

On sit-down exams: No help given or received.

On regular homework: Get any assistance that helps you learn to solve these problems.
But be sure to write them up yourself. And remember that the exams will test your ability to
solve them without any assistance and in a new context.

On the CSC Reports: Feel free to talk with other students about the material of a CSC
assignment while you are in the process of thinking about it. You may even decide to form
a study group for that purpose. You also may seek assistance from a tutor in the MATC
lab. When it comes to writing up the report, however, you should do this by yourself
without outside assistance and in your own words. Don't forget that you should do well on
any exam-questions related to the CSC assignments if you understand the ideas and
techniques addressed in the CSC chapters.
