The master plan will capture Dartmouth's unique sense of place and identity and express the campus community's shared vision for its future, including how the physical design of the campus serves the college's mission and academic objectives. Individual decisions about existing building renovations, the location and design of new buildings, landscape and infrastructure improvements will be organized within the context of larger strategic, aesthetic, and sustainability goals for the campus.

The product will be a flexible roadmap that the College will continuously refer to for its sustainable development and preservation of the main campus.
The master plan will be guided by the following goals:
Poised for the next watershed moment in the campus's evolution, a successful campus master plan will ensure Dartmouth in reaffirming the institution's core values, inspiring thought leaders in the world and upholding the Green as the gateway to Dartmouth, both locally and globally.
