(Creative Writing)
Schedule: Thursdays, 3 – 6pm
Location:...
Instructor: Tom Powers
Description:
Students will be expected to read widely in current periodical literature, to identify and describe "stories" as defined in the first class of the course, to analyze and discuss assigned readings as well as ongoing "stories" in the media, and to write two person-centered non-fiction narratives drawn from their own experience or observation.
The purpose of the course will be to develop and refine students' understanding of the interaction of event and human character which make a narrative a story, and to identify and use the kinds of writerly technique which give narratives their literary power.
