(09/27/09) Book Study - The Orthodox Heretic, 9:15, Emmaus Room

h1 Sunday, September 27th, 2009 at 9:15 am

We gather to have meaningful conversation about living today, stimulated by what we read together. These sessions noted below will occur around a new book that explores the idea of “parable,” the familiar way of teaching that Jesus used, and what it might mean today.

We are reading the book, The Orthodox Heretic by Peter Rollins. This newly written book is a series of contemporary parables, built largely on the parables Jesus used. Rollins is an Irish theologian. He says that parables are written to inspire and transform us, not to change our minds, but to change our hearts.

In preparation for discussion on the 27th, please read pages 67-93.
