We invite you join us on March 30th for a presentation and workshop with well-known author Jim Merkel, who will be speaking on “Radical Spirituality.” We’re very pleased to have him with us for this event, and we invite everyone to attend. Jim Merkel is the author of Radical Simplicity and has worked as the Sustainability Coordinator at Dartmouth College. Jim founded and directs the Global Living Project in Vermont.

As oil prices reach record highs and climate scientists offer stark and dire warnings, Jim Merkel suggests that by moving toward deeply sustainable lifestyles, we can directly address these challenges. His presentation will include practical approaches to making sizable cuts in spending and footprints both in our lives and workplace. Once we decide to take decisive action we will discover ideas, information, dreams and technologies that can improve the quality of human existence on planet Earth.

• 10:30: Jim will be a guest in worship
• 12:00 – 1:15 lunch (There will be a wonderful meal hosted by the Greeining the Church Task Force)
• Jim will be presenting on “Radical Spirituality”; there will be an opportunity for conversation and questions after the presentation.
• 1:30 – 3:00 – two-part workshop: “Sharing the Earth”
• Sustainability Sweat Shop: contemplating our scientific, spiritual and ethical senses in answering the the question: How do I want to share this planet with all life on Earth?
• The “One Planet Living” challenge: using Ecological Footprinting to measure our impact and assess our (fair) share.
