It is difficult to over emphasize the impact private collectors and institutions have had in shaping and enriching the Dartmouth College Library’s collections. Rauner Library is privileged to have been the beneficiary of such notable collectors as Herbert West, Allerton Hickmott, Mark Lansburgh, and other Friends of the Dartmouth Library too numerous to mention. Pilobolus Dance Theater and a host of individuals and organizations have chosen Dartmouth as the home to their papers. Should we have been dependent on purchase alone to build the collections, the Dartmouth College Library could not today boast of its tremendous holdings and the incredible resources available to further the educational mission of the College.
