Student Employment at the Jones Media Center
Student assistants are integral to the work flow at the Jones Media Center. Each term Jones employs between 25 and 30 students covering approximately 150 hours. We are looking for students that understand and value good public service and are willing to work as team players. The Jones Media Center offers the following positions to Dartmouth students:
Circulation Services Assistant:
Hours covered:
Mon – Thu 10AM-10PM • Fri 10AM–6PM • Sat 10AM-6PM • Sun 2PM-10PM
Job Description
• Assist patrons (students, faculty, staff, alumni, visitors) at the Media Services desk • Answer questions about Media Center collections and services, the Library and the College • Perform cash transactions for payment of fines and media services • Shelve and file media and microtext items • Assist patrons with the use of microtext scanner equipment • Perform other Media Center tasks as needed

Requirements
• Maintain a high standard of customer service, in person and by phone • Self-motivated, with an ability to work independently • Knowledge of Dartmouth libraries, campus and community • Adhere to all library policies and procedures • Maintain patron confidentiality • Complete necessary training requirements • Work a minimum of 4 hours per week

Hourly Base Rate: $7.75

Since many students continue to work at Jones for several terms, only a few jobs become available each term. Technical Services Assistant:
Hours covered:Mon – Thu 6PM-10PM • Fri 4PM-6PM • Sat 10AM-6PM • Sun 2PM-10PM
Job Description
• Provide technical assistance to patrons working on multi-media projects at the Jones Media Center • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of relevant software: iMovie, iDVD, GarageBand, iTunes, FinalCut, Soundtrack, Photoshop • Develop familiarity with current equipment and new media technology • Assist in the production of written tutorials and instructional videos • Assist in the update and development of promotional videos displayed in the Jones Media Center • Perform routine tasks such as maintenance of external hard drives and recording equipment, cleaning DVDs, quality checking of new media • Support customer service at the Media Services desk as needed • Perform other Media Center tasks as needed

Requirements
• Maintain a high standard of customer service • Acquire and maintain advanced computer skills • Interest in multimedia technology • Self-motivated, with the ability to work independently • Previous experience with video and sound editing software preferred • Complete necessary training requirements • Work a minimum of 4 hours per week • Evenings and some weekends are required

Hourly Base Rate: $8.75
