off-campus
Jones Media Center carries a variety of audio equipment. Most audio recorders are loaned on a walk-in basis and require very little training. Below are some of the features of each type of audio recorder.
This tiny digital recorder is great for most recordings. The Olympus records in the Windows Media Audio (.WMA) file format. The built-in USB terminal allows for easy file transfer to your computer. Macintosh users can convert .WMA files using the SWITCH Audio Converter Software or QuickTime Pro software available in the center (for instructions click here).
This slightly larger cassette tape recorder can be used as a recording as well as a playback device. To digitize audio from the cassette tape, please see our quick reference tutorial.
