A note regarding "Pro Equipment" designations below: "professional" equipment is not just about the potential for better quality. Professional results require a greater understanding of the tool that is being used. For this reason, those who wish to borrow our professional equipment may be asked to demonstrate their knowledge of the equipment or schedule time to be trained on the equipment. In addition, borrowing professional equipment also involves greater financial risk in the event of loss or damage. Due to the limited quantity of professional gear in our inventory, and the cost to repair/replace these items, we reserve the right to restrict access to professional equipment for reasons including lack of knowledge or experience, or for historical incidents of loss or damage to our equipment.

Marantz PMD 661 Audio Recorder (Pro Equipment)
The Marantz PMD 661 records to a compact flash card in uncompressed WAVE (.WAV) stereo format. The unit is portable, but larger (8” x 4” x 1.5”) than the Olympus LS-10 (5” x 2” x 1”). This device is recommended ONLY for recordings that require the use of external microphones, such as interviews using a hand-held microphone, recording live music with professional microphones, or recording a line-level signal from a sound board. The PMD 661 has two XLR inputs, 1/8” line in/out connections, phantom power, and runs on AA batteries or AC power.
