Kresge Course Reserves

Kresge Library processes course reserves for the physical sciences departments which include Chemistry, Earth Sciences, Environmental Sciences, Geography, and Physics and Astronomy.

Faculty must submit their lists two to three weeks before the term begins in order for the material to be available at the start of the term. Letters are sent to physical science faculty who will be teaching before the term begins with information about their course reserves.

All reserve materials, print and electronic, will be individually listed and/or linked from the Course Reserves page in the Dartmouth College Library Catalog. If an item is available online, the full text will be linked from this page. If the item is physically on reserve in the library, the listing will show its library location and current availability.

Faculty may connect directly from their course on Blackboard to the Library Course reserves.

For help with setting up reserves contact klr@dartmouth.edu or your library liaison.

Photocopying & Scanning

There is one black and white photocopier/scanner available for public use in Kresge Library. Scanning to an email address is free. The photocopier accepts Danyl Copy Cards only which may be purchased from a machine at Kresge. Each copy card costs one dollar and the card has 3 copies on it. Copies are 6 cents per 8.5x11 inch copy. Additional money can be added to the card. The copy card machine requires bills (not coins), and change is available at the Access Services desk.

Faculty and departments may purchase copies and cards at the Access Services desk. A departmental budget number is required to purchase cards or to add copies to existing cards. These purchases are charged to departmental accounts on a monthly basis.

Use of the scanner and photocopier must be consistent with the Dartmouth College Information Technology Policy, Dartmouth College Copyright Policy and Guidelines, other policies of the College, and state and federal law. Specifically, scanning and photocopying copyrighted material for non-academic purposes or scanning ID's are prohibited.

Animals in Kresge Library

Animals on leashes or other restraint are permitted in Kresge Library, provided the owner abides by the following guidelines. Animals must be on a leash or other restraint at all times. Animals must be attended by the owner at all times; fastening the animal to a table, a carrel or a chair is not acceptable. In the event that an animal soils a floor or otherwise causes damage, owners will clean up after their animal and will reimburse Dartmouth College for any additional cleaning which may be required. If an unattended or unleashed animal is found in the library, a staff person will seek the animal's owner and ask that the animal be escorted outside of the libraries.
