Status Messages in the Catalog

Callout Heading

The following status messages appear in the catalog:

AVAILABLE The item should be on the shelf, unless it is being consulted by another reader.
BOOK DISPLAY The item is on the Dartmouth Author Display table.
DUE The item is on loan (or overdue) and is due back on the date shown.
IN TRANSIT The item may still be waiting to be reshelved. Please check with Circulation.
LIB USE ONLY The item may only be consulted in the Library and is not available for loan.
LOST The item has been lost by the borrower.
MISSING The item has disappeared and is unavailable.
ON HOLDSHELF The item is currently reserved for a reader.
ON SEARCH The item is missing and a tracer has been placed on it.

Other Messages

LIBRARY HAS This record summarizes holdings for multi-volume works as well as journals.
