Charge

The Digital Library Management Group (DLMG) manages and provides leadership for the planning, development, and operation of the Digital Library at Dartmouth. The group is responsible for all of the established programs and new initiatives within the Digital Library at Dartmouth.

To accomplish its work, the group sets priorities, and establishes timetables, with the agreement of the Library Administrative Group. The DLMG will create working groups as needed, and coordinate communication with library staff and users.

The Management Group will:

  • Build a planning framework for the Digital Library that spans all key areas of responsibility: access, education, preservation, tools and services, technologies and architecture, content, publishing, metadata creation and management, marketing and publicity.
  • Identify and charge task groups and forums to advise the Management Group and distribute work tasks.
  • Communicate policies, accomplishments, work-in-progress to Library staff through work plan and a calendar of projects, milestones, etc.
  • Conduct an environmental scan of Library projects as well as those within the College and nationally that may be relevant to our interests, needs and priorities.
  • Develop service, content and technology policies and priorities for the Digital Library at Dartmouth.
  • Identify projects that serve as models for future digital collection development for the Dartmouth College Library.
  • Identify campus partnerships for projects that are mutually beneficial.
  • Initiate projects that assist Dartmouth faculty in publishing/distributing the results of their research and improve the process of scholarly communication.
  • Implement strategies to develop and sustain the Library's digital collections.
