Synopsis

Silent, titled footage of winter life at Dartmouth College, filmed in the late 1930s. Shows downhill skiing, the DOC rope tow (J-bar), and students preparing a DOC cabin for an overnight. Scenes of mid-winter exams are included.

Winter Carnival footage includes ice sculptures and winter sports competitions (skiing, ice skating, ice hockey, slalom racing and ski jumping). A Dartmouth Players performance is also shown, with Prof. Warner Bentley, director of the Players, doing last minute touches of make-up on the actors, setting up stage lighting, and making effects for live performances.
